Uploading Vector Artwork for Roof Signs
Vector artwork is ideal for your roof sign because it avoids quality loss during production by Lettercraft Topsigns.
To ensure your design appears exactly as intended on our end, it’s important to use the correct export settings when uploading your artwork.
Below, we’ve outlined recommended settings for two popular vector design tools—Adobe Illustrator and Inkscape.
If you’re using different software, similar options likely exist under different menus. In that case, please email us at sales@lettercrafttopsignsuk.co.uk with both the vector file and a PNG or JPEG export, so we can verify the files render correctly on our system.
Using Adobe Illustrator
To export your vector image:

-
Go to File > Export As.
-
Choose SVG as the file type.
-
After selecting a location to save the file, an SVG Options dialog will appear.
-
Under the Font section, select “Convert to Outlines”.
This ensures your text is preserved correctly without requiring the original font.
Note: In older versions of Illustrator, this option may appear under a slightly different name.
Your file is now ready to upload to our online designer.
Using Inkscape
-
First, convert all text objects to paths:

-
Select each text element.
-
If it’s recognised as a text object, go to Path > Object to Path.
-
This keeps the visual appearance intact while converting the text into a non-editable shape.
-
-
Once all text has been converted:
-
Go to File > Save As and save your design.
-
Note: Avoid using the regular Save button if you want to preserve a version with editable text for future edits.
Your file is now ready to upload to our online designer.
Proofing for Peace of Mind
For any order that includes uploaded artwork, we’ll send a digital proof to the email address associated with your order. This lets you confirm the artwork looks correct before production begins.
If you have any concerns about your logo or file compatibility, feel free to contact us or simply wait for your proof after placing your order.
